ESAOTE VETERINARY MRI
G-scan Equine
The Esaote G-scan Equine sets a new standard in equine diagnostics, engineered specifically to tackle the complexities of equine MRI scanning with a proprietary rotating magnet that tilts from 0° to 90°. It is the only MRI system in the world capable of imaging the equine stifle joint, while also covering the full range of distal limb anatomy from the carpus and tarsus distally. Developed in close collaboration with veterinary experts, with tailored animal-centric sequences, dedicated exam protocols, and a vet-specific user interface, the G-scan Equine unlocks a new standard of equine diagnostic confidence.

CLINICAL APPLICATIONS
What this system is built for
The G-scan Equine is purpose-built for equine veterinary facilities that require MRI coverage of the full distal limb, including the stifle joint, which no other MRI system in the world can access, delivering diagnostic capability that changes what is possible in equine orthopedic practice.
Stifle joint imaging
The rotating magnet mechanism enables unique patient positioning that makes the G-scan Equine the only MRI system worldwide capable of imaging the equine stifle joint, opening definitive soft tissue diagnosis of meniscal, ligamentous, and articular cartilage pathology previously inaccessible to MRI.
Distal limb orthopedic imaging
From the carpus and tarsus distally, covering the fetlock, pastern, coffin joint, collateral ligaments, and hoof, the G-scan Equine delivers high-resolution MRI of the equine distal limb with dedicated protocols developed specifically for equine anatomy and lameness diagnosis.
Equine neuroimaging
Dedicated neurological imaging protocols for the equine cervical spine and cranium extend the G-scan’s clinical utility beyond orthopedics, enabling MRI-based diagnosis of cervical stenosis, wobbler syndrome, and intracranial pathology in horses.
Standing sedation workflow
The system is designed for equine facilities using standing sedation; the horse remains in a natural weight-bearing position while the rotating magnet angles to the required imaging plane, minimizing anesthesia risk and simplifying the examination workflow for horses and staff alike.
